Al-Hilal is reportedly gearing up to make an offer for Darwin Nunez, who has been identified as their primary transfer target.
Nunez has an estimated value of $80 million as Liverpool seeks to recover a significant portion of the $115.6 million they paid Benfica in the summer of 2022. Given Al-Hilal’s financial prowess, the proposed fee would be their second-highest, surpassed only by their acquisition of Neymar two years ago.
AC Milan is also interested in acquiring Nunez, having cleared substantial space in their wage budget with recent player transfers.
Initially, Al-Hilal aimed for Victor Osimhen, who opted for Galatasaray. Their subsequent target Benjamin Sesko was considered, as well as discussions around Alexander Isak. Nunez, though not the club’s first choice, has not ruled out a move to the Pro League and could potentially earn an annual salary exceeding $35 million.
Despite facing high expectations since joining Liverpool, Nunez has only been a marginal player in their Premier League victory last season, contributing 40 goals and 26 assists in 143 matches. Should he leave, Liverpool would bolster their financial capacity to bid for Isak, after their previous offer of $146 million was declined by Newcastle.
