In yet another victory that solidifies his status as potentially NASCAR’s finest road racer, Shane van Gisbergen claimed triumph at Watkins Glen International, achieving his fourth straight road course victory and his fourth overall for the season.
The former V8 Supercars champion has now set a record for the most wins during a rookie season in the Cup Series, matching Denny Hamlin for the most victories this season.
After making a remarkable debut in NASCAR by winning his first race at Chicago in 2023, van Gisbergen fully embraced racing professionally in the U.S., making a full shift from his home in New Zealand this season.
He has been virtually unbeatable over the summer months, propelling himself in the standings while securing a new contract with Trackhouse Racing.
“That’s the stuff you dream about, right? I’m just a very lucky guy to get to drive for an amazing bunch of people and just execute,” van Gisbergen shared with NBC Sports. “It ain’t gonna be easy, that’s for sure…”

With van Gisbergen finishing first, Christopher Bell claimed second place, followed by Chris Buescher in third, and William Byron and Chase Briscoe rounding out the top five.
Buescher’s performance also provided a needed boost in his playoff standings, whereas Tyler Reddick cemented his position for the upcoming playoffs with his ninth-place finish.
Absent from the race due to injury was Connor Zilisch, who is recovering after a fall that occurred during a previous victory celebration.
