Tom Izzo Equally Matches Bob Knight's Big Ten Wins Record After Michigan State Dominates Oregon

In an exhilarating comeback against Oregon, Tom Izzo of Michigan State tied Bob Knight's Big Ten wins record, showcasing the Spartans' resilience.

Michigan State’s coach Tom Izzo matched Indiana legend Bob Knight for most career Big Ten victories, finally reaching 353 that had been elusive during recent losses. Tying that record nearly had to wait again after the No. 9 Spartans roared back from a 14-point halftime deficit Saturday to beat Oregon 86-74.

Clearly, it didn’t come easily. After a shaky first half, Michigan State rallied significantly in the latter half of the game with contributions from Jase Richardson, who scored a career-high of 29 points in what could be seen as a tribute to Izzo’s impactful legacy.

The Spartans entered the day as a projected No. 3 seed in Jerry Palm’s NCAA Tournament Bracketology, their best seeding since 2019.
