Tua Tagovailoa Faces Challenges in Joint Bears Practice, Marks Preseason Opener in Four Years

The Miami Dolphins quarterback struggled in a joint practice against the Chicago Bears but made his preseason debut after missing significant game time.

In a recent joint practice with the Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa faced a difficult day, throwing three interceptions and struggling to maintain offensive stability. Despite this, he managed to complete 5 out of 6 passes for 27 yards during the game that ended in a 24-24 tie with the Bears. This practice was particularly significant for Tagovailoa as it marked his return to the field for the first time in four years during the preseason after missing last season due to injuries.

Tagovailoa expressed that his participation in the game was not solely influenced by his recent performance, attributing it instead to a decision made by Head Coach Mike McDaniel. ‘This was solely based on coach McDaniel’s decision,’ Tagovailoa said. ‘It was boss man’s decision.’

The Dolphins aim to foster a solid team chemistry this year. In the past seasons, their performance has fluctuated, and Tagovailoa has only had one full season since the 2020 NFL Draft. With greater consistency and health, the hope is to surpass prior playoff appearances, which have often ended prematurely.

As the Dolphins gear up for the season, maintaining Tagovailoa’s health will be paramount for their success.
