The Little League Baseball World Series commenced on August 13 in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania and is set to continue until August 24. This annual event, which has been held since 1947, is one of the most eagerly awaited youth sports tournaments each year.

The previous champion, Lake Mary, has been eliminated by Irmo Little League from South Carolina, ensuring a new champion for 2025 from the 20 teams competing. The tournament features a mix of ten teams from the United States and ten international teams.

During the event, there can be as many as four games daily, with one notable exception: Sunday, August 17, featured an extra game, the MLB Little League Classic, where the New York Mets triumphed over the Seattle Mariners with a score of 7-3 at Bowman Field.

The semifinals for both the U.S. and international teams will take place on Wednesday and Thursday. The Little League Home Run Derby is the only event scheduled for Friday.

Upcoming Championship Timings

• U.S. Championship: Saturday at 3:30 PM ET, on ABC.
• International Championship: Saturday at 12:30 PM ET.
• Consolation Game: Sunday at 10:00 AM ET on ESPN2.
• Championship Game: Sunday at 3:00 PM ET on ABC.

So far, six teams from both the U.S. and international pools have been eliminated. For the international side, teams from Japan, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Asia-Pacific are still in the competition. The remaining U.S. teams hail from regions including Southeast, Mountain, Metro, and Midwest.

How the Tournament Works

The World Series follows a double-elimination bracket format, allowing teams a second chance after a loss until they incur two losses, resulting in elimination.

Games are played in a fixed six-inning format; if tied, a seventh inning is added, continuing until a winner is determined.
