The busiest roster day of the NFL year is happening this week. Teams are required to reduce their rosters from 90 to 53 players by Tuesday (Aug. 26), preparing for the season ahead which starts in less than two weeks.
With each franchise cutting approximately 37 players, a total of 1,182 athletes will face waivers over the coming days. All teams must comply by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday. The reduction establishes the initial 53-man rosters, although released players still have a chance to be part of the extended 69-man squad via practice squads. Each team can maintain up to 16 players in the practice squad, increasing to 17 if they have someone in the International Pathway Program.
Players with fewer than four accrued seasons must clear waivers to become unrestricted free agents, while those with four or more seasons can sign with any team immediately.
Teams have until noon ET on Wednesday to claim players off waivers, giving them a 20-hour window to respond.
Here are team-by-team releases leading up to the initial 53-man roster deadline, with updates expected over the next few days.
