Trevon Diggs has been a notable absence from the Dallas Cowboys’ training camp as he recovers from knee surgery he underwent in January. However, the star cornerback successfully passed his physical on Friday, allowing him to transition from the physically unable to play list to the active roster.
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer commended Diggs for his dedication and hard work with the training staff throughout his recovery. He stated, “I’d be remiss if I didn’t talk about how hard Trevon’s been working… Really proud of him.”
While it is still uncertain whether Diggs will participate in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys hope to avoid placing him on injured reserve, which would sideline him for the first four games. The following week will play a crucial role in determining Diggs’ status for the 53-man roster.
Should he return, the Cowboys’ defense will benefit significantly from his presence. However, questions remain around Micah Parsons’ status, especially amidst a trade request, as the Cowboys gear up for their challenging matchup against the reigning Super Bowl champion Eagles.
