Record-Breaking Sale: Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant’s Autographed Card Fetches $12.9 Million

A unique sports card featuring basketball legends Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant has set a new record by selling for $12.9 million, making it the most expensive sports card ever.

Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are once again making headlines.

A card featuring these two basketball legends sold for a staggering $12.932 million on Sunday, claiming the title of the most expensive sports card ever sold.

This card is notably the only dual Logoman card that includes both players. Its value soared further, thanks to the Jordan jersey patch being a rare gold version from the celebratory 1996-97 NBA season.

Jordan’s prominence in sports memorabilia is well-known; he is often regarded as the greatest NBA player of all time. His game-worn jerseys sell for astronomical prices, including a jersey from the 1998 NBA Finals that fetched $10.091 million in September 2022. Nevertheless, the highest price for any game-worn sports jersey remains with Babe Ruth, whose jersey from calling his shot during the 1932 World Series sold for $24.12 million.

Bryant’s memorabilia is also highly sought after. Recently, collector Matt Allen disclosed investing $4 million on Bryant’s cards. This Saturday was particularly poignant, marking what would have been Bryant’s 47th birthday.

Previously, the title for the most expensive sports card was held by a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card, which sold for $12.6 million. Another historic card, the 1909 Sweet Caporal T-206 Honus Wagner, has also reached notable sales amounts in recent years.
