The Philadelphia Eagles are making a pivotal roster adjustment ahead of Tuesday’s 53-man deadline by waiving offensive lineman Kenyon Green. This decision comes just months after acquiring him in exchange for safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, along with a fifth-round pick from the Houston Texans.
Originally selected 15th overall by the Texans in the 2022 NFL Draft from Texas A&M, Green had anticipated competing for a backup guard position but evidently did not demonstrate the necessary progress to secure a place on the roster. The Eagles currently boast a strong starting lineup featuring Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, and Lane Johnson, and have been proactive in reshuffling their offensive line reserves. Amidst this roster shuffle, Philly made three trades on Sunday, acquiring Fred Johnson from the Jacksonville Jaguars and sending Darian Kinnard to the Green Bay Packers in a future exchange.
Green’s rookie season was hampered by challenges, leading to a missed second season due to a shoulder injury during the preseason. In 2024, he saw action in 12 games, starting nine at left guard.
