Final Grades for NFL Preseason Rookies: Three Players Excel with 'A+' Grades

An overview of first-round rookies' performances during the preseason, highlighting top performers and their grades.

We can’t jump to conclusions about rookies based solely on their preseason performances, but we can assign grades based on their overall showings during the summer. This piece reflects the cumulative grades for each player after all preseason games, not just the last one.

1. QB Cameron Ward

Grade: B
Ward completed 10 of 19 passes for 145 yards without a touchdown. Although his performance against the Falcons was poor numerically, he demonstrated promise.

2. WR/CB Travis Hunter

Grade: C+
In just 17 snaps this preseason, Hunter recorded two catches for nine yards, alongside one missed tackle.

3. EDGE Abdul Carter

Grade: B+
Carter had limited snaps but impressed, especially against the Bills where he registered multiple pressures.

4. OT Will Campbell

Grade: A
Campbell showed exceptional skill in pass protection, allowing no disruptions throughout the preseason.

5. DT Mason Graham

Grade: C+
Graham struggled to push the interior line but did well against the run.

6. RB Ashton Jeanty

Grade: B-
Despite not always having clear paths to run, Jeanty showed signs of power when he did.

And there’s much more detailing each player’s respective grades and assessments throughout the preseason.
