Ian Schieffelin Breaks Silence After DUI Charge Dropped, Shares Dabo Swinney's Decision
Clemson tight end Ian Schieffelin discusses the dismissal of his DUI charge and the repercussions for the upcoming season.
Clemson tight end Ian Schieffelin released a statement on Tuesday through his attorney regarding the dismissal of his recent DUI charge. Head coach Dabo Swinney previously indicated that Schieffelin would miss time this season as a disciplinary measure due to the incident.
Schieffelin accepted a traffic ticket for reckless driving after the City of Clemson Police Department decided not to pursue the DUI charge. “As part of the resolution of this matter, I will not be allowed to play in the home opener against LSU. I am determined to learn from this experience and move forward with renewed focus,” Schieffelin stated.
The report indicated that an officer on routine patrol noticed Schieffelin swerving and driving aggressively near the Clemson campus. He was arrested without a breathalyzer test and later released on bond.
Schieffelin is expected to play a significant role for Clemson this season, joining a talented roster that includes Heisman candidate Cade Klubnik and star wideout Antonio Williams.
He previously played four seasons with the Clemson basketball team, averaging 12.4 points and 9.4 rebounds last year.
