In Frisco, Texas, the Dallas Cowboys are in a race against time with Micah Parsons, the All-Pro edge rusher, as they attempt to mend a long-standing contract dispute before the NFL season kicks off. With just nine days remaining until their first game against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on September 4, Parsons hasn’t practiced due to a back injury; however, an MRI has confirmed he is now cleared for practice, shifting the focus onto contract negotiations rather than health concerns.
“Yeah, again, there’s always a chance for more tests and things like that, but at this time we do consider Parsons cleared for practice,” Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer stated. Schottenheimer also remarked on a recent one-on-one conversation he had with Parsons, insisting it was fruitful and covered various important topics. As the Cowboys prepare for their first game, they expect Parsons to participate, albeit not necessarily at full capacity from the outset. However, continued contract discussions could soon start to affect the Cowboys’ operations as the season opener approaches.
