UEFA Champions League Draw: Viewing Options as New Teams Enter the Competition
The upcoming Champions League season gears up with new entrants alongside famous clubs like PSG and Real Madrid. Here's how to watch live.
A new season of the UEFA Champions League is beginning to take shape, with a batch of newcomers set to join regional heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid after a dramatic qualification journey.
Three teams booked their berths in the league phase on Tuesday as the second leg of the playoff round began, each of them reaching the competition for the first time in their history. Some matches were more dramatic than others: Norway’s Bodo/Glimt triumphed over Austria’s Sturm Graz 6-2 on aggregate after a 5-0 win at home, while Cyprus’ Pafos and Kazakhstan’s Kairat clinched their spots with dramatic performances in the second leg. Pafos secured a 3-2 aggregate lead over Crvena Zvezda thanks to an 89th-minute goal from Jaja, while Kairat advanced by defeating Celtic on penalties after a goalless draw, with goalkeeper Temirlan Anarbekov saving three shots during the shootout.
Four more spots will be determined on Wednesday, as the final qualification round culminates. No team holds more than a two-goal advantage from the first leg, and two matches—Basel against Copenhagen and Benfica against Fenerbahce—are tied before Wednesday’s games.
The 38 teams that will feature in the league phase will learn their path to Budapest’s Puskas Arena during Thursday’s draw.
