The NFL’s busiest day for roster decisions has arrived, with teams trimming their rosters from 90 players down to the required 53 by the 4 p.m. ET deadline. A staggering total of 1,182 players have been waived or released across the league as teams finalize their rosters ahead of the season’s kickoff in under two weeks.
Each team has eliminated 37 players, though those released may still have a chance to join practice squads, which allow up to 16 players—17, if a team has someone from the International Pathway Program.
Players with less than four accrued seasons must go through the waiver wire to become unrestricted free agents, defined as having participated in six or more games while on a team’s active roster, injured reserve, or physically unable to perform list. Those with four or more accrued seasons automatically qualify as free agents and may sign with any team.
Following are the players released before the initial 53-man roster deadline, with ongoing updates expected.
