The Cleveland Browns quarterback situation has become a focal point this season after they drafted Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders earlier in the year. Recent changes came with the trade of Kenny Pickett to the Raiders and now the signing of Bailey Zappe to the practice squad, as reported by NFL Network.
In Zappe, the Browns are adding a seasoned quarterback familiar with Kevin Stefanski’s offensive style. He had previously played for the team, even starting in the season finale against the Ravens.
This move provides Stefanski with an insurance option should neither Gabriel, who was assigned the No. 2 quarterback role, nor Sanders be ready to step in for Joe Flacco. Zappe will not only serve to deepen the roster but can also mentor the rookie quarterbacks.
Bailey Zappe joined the Browns after being selected in the fourth round by the Patriots in 2022. He also spent time on the Chiefs practice squad last season before being cut and subsequently signed by the Browns after Deshaun Watson suffered a significant injury.
