Lionel Messi was again the standout performer for Inter Miami, netting two goals in the second half to secure a 3-1 victory over Orlando City on Wednesday. This win propelled Miami into the Leagues Cup final.
During the first half, Miami struggled, allowing Orlando to lead with Marco Pasalic’s goal just before halftime. However, the second half saw a revitalized Miami side that dominated, limiting Orlando to no shots and turning the game around after David Brekalo received a red card after conceding a penalty at the 75th minute.
Messi converted the penalty, marking his first shot on target of the match. Shortly after, he struck again, with some brilliant interplay involving Jordi Alba. Finally, Messi assisted on the last Miami goal, solidifying their place in the final.
This final will be Miami’s first since 2023, where they claimed their inaugural title. They are aiming for further trophies, including next year’s Concacaf Champions Cup.
