Oklahoma State Quarterback Hauss Hejny Faces Extended Absence Due to Foot Injury

Hauss Hejny sustains a broken foot during Oklahoma State's opening game, raising concerns about a lengthy recovery time.

Oklahoma State starting quarterback Hauss Hejny suffered a broken bone in his foot Thursday night in the Cowboys’ season-opening 27-7 win over UT Martin. Hejny is expected to miss a considerable amount of time due to the injury, and he could undergo surgery as early as Sunday, according to sources.

The TCU transfer had a promising start, leading the team on two touchdown drives, but he was injured during the following possession and did not return. In his absence, Zane Flores stepped in and recorded 136 passing yards on 13-for-20 attempts.

“I won’t provide injury updates either way,” Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy stated after the game. “I don’t know. I never will know on those until the next day anyway… I’ll know more later.”
The Cowboys also have a significant matchup against No. 7 Oregon next week, following a difficult 3-9 season last year. Gundy, who has never had consecutive losing seasons in his lengthy coaching career, faces mounting pressure as 2025 progresses.
