2025 Fantasy Football Busts: Saquon Barkley Tops the Do Not Draft List
Jamey Eisenberg identifies top bust candidates for the upcoming fantasy football season, including notable players to avoid based on their average draft positions.
It’s time for Busts 4.0, which is my final list of bust candidates for 2025. Here are some qualifiers based primarily on average draft positions from CBS Sports.
First off, I find the value of several quarterbacks like Josh Allen (ADP 16.5) and Lamar Jackson (ADP 18.2) to be disappointing. They are ranked as my top two quarterbacks, yet I would hesitate to draft them in the second round. If you must choose a quarterback, I’d prefer Jackson, given his average of 30.1 fantasy points per game over Allen’s 25.6 last season.
I recommend waiting to draft quarterbacks until at least Round 3 in a one-quarterback league, instead opting for later picks like Dak Prescott (ADP 82.4), Kyler Murray (84.1), Justin Fields (116.5), or Drake Maye (129.1), among others.
Even if these players may not match Jackson or Allen’s performance, the value I gain from selecting a wide receiver, running back, or a tight end (like Brock Bowers or Trey McBride) in those rounds is much more appealing.
I’m also ignoring current ADP for players with uncertain situations, such as Joe Mixon (ADP 79.7) and Quinshon Judkins (112.4). Mixon, for instance, should only be considered as a late-round flier, given he will miss the first month of the season due to a foot injury. Judkins still needs to sign his rookie deal, making him a complete gamble until he’s situated into a reliable spot on a roster.
While several of these players have been discussed in previous editions of this list, I’ve incorporated new candidates and revised some outlooks. The draft day value will dictate whether I opt for these players if they fall to me at a more advantageous price.
