Lynx Dominate to Secure Top Seed for 2025 WNBA Playoffs

The Minnesota Lynx clinch the No. 1 seed in the 2025 WNBA playoffs, establishing a franchise record with 31 wins.

The Minnesota Lynx continued their stronghold on the regular season on Saturday, defeating the Connecticut Sun by a commanding score of 94-70. This victory secured the No. 1 seed in the 2025 WNBA playoffs and provided them with homecourt advantage throughout the postseason. With a record of 31-8, the Lynx broke the previous franchise record of 30 wins set in 2024.

This marks the first time the Lynx has captured the No. 1 overall seed since 2017, a year they also claimed their fourth championship title. After facing a tough loss against the New York Liberty in the Finals last season, the Lynx are now in pursuit of their record-breaking fifth title this fall.

Holding homecourt advantage significantly aids the Lynx in their playoff quest, as they have an impressive home record of 18-2 at the Target Center this season. This is the best home record in the league, with a net rating of +15.5. While they can prevail on the road, their 13-6 away record and +8.4 net rating are slightly less formidable.

After a closely contested first quarter in Uncasville, the Lynx took the lead decisively and went on to win by 24 points. Five players from the Lynx scored in double digits, with MVP candidate Napheesa Collier leading the way, contributing 17 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals, and three blocks in a standout performance.

As the Lynx head into the final stretch of the regular season—remaining five games, including a prominent matchup against the Las Vegas Aces, who are currently on a 12-game winning streak—they are in a strong position for the playoffs. Collier is also a frontrunner for the MVP award but has missed 10 games due to injury, making her upcoming contributions critical not only to her team’s success but also to her individual accolades.
