Jokić achieves a personal best, scoring 39 points to secure Serbia's place in the knockout stage.
Three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokić, primarily recognized for his playmaking skills, showcased his impressive scoring abilities, tallying 39 points during Serbia’s victory over Latvia, with a score of 84-80 in EuroBasket 2025.
Jokić was successful on 15 of 26 attempts from the field, contributing 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. This performance set a new benchmark for the highest-scoring game by a Serbian player in EuroBasket history. Following this win, Serbia improved to 3-0 in the tournament and secured a position in the knockout rounds.
“I don’t have any words,” Aleksa Avramović stated about Jokić’s remarkable performance.
Jokić skillfully maneuvered around the basket, executing various shots beyond the reach of Latvian players, including Kristaps Porziņģis, who competes for the Atlanta Hawks.
At a crucial moment, Jokić made a significant three-pointer to expand Serbia’s lead to seven points, demonstrating his leadership on the court.
Filip Petrušev explained, “He’s our leader. His performance inspires the entire team to elevate their game.”
Serbia, regarded as a primary contender in the tournament, is looking to continue its winning streak as it prepares for upcoming matches against Czechia and Türkiye.
