The Dallas Cowboys have secured former Pro Bowl cornerback DaRon Bland to a substantial four-year contract extension worth $92 million, of which $50 million is guaranteed. This contract positions Bland with the fifth-highest average annual value for cornerbacks in the NFL, at $23.04 million per season.
In a statement, Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed his happiness for Bland, stating:
“I’m so happy for him. Well deserved… Another guy who perfectly fits our defense.”
Despite missing out on re-signing fellow player Micah Parsons, the team’s focus turned to Bland, who marked a successful early career with nine interceptions in 2023, leading the league, and earning his first Pro Bowl selection. Bland struggled with injuries last season but is expected to bounce back stronger. The Cowboys have high hopes that he will return to his peak performance.
