NEW ORLEANS – The Philadelphia Eagles started the 2024 season just 2-2, dropping games against the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers prior to their Week 5 bye. In that second loss, their defense struggled, allowing 445 total yards and 33 points.
After that bye week, the Eagles have been formidable on defense, showing significant improvement led by their rookie cornerbacks, Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell. This transformation led to DeJean and Mitchell being finalists for the league’s Defensive Rookie of the Year award. As Slay aptly noted, “This Eagles secondary is gonna have two great young corners for a long, long time.”
