Johnny Manziel: Alabama No Longer Instills Fear After Florida State Loss
Johnny Manziel comments on Alabama's recent performance, stating that the Crimson Tide's once fearsome reputation has diminished following their defeat to Florida State.
With Saturday’s upset defeat at the hands of Florida State, No. 8 Alabama lost a season opener for the first time since 2001. Second-year coach Kalen DeBoer has now led the Crimson Tide to a less-than-stellar 9-5 record since taking over. The team’s previous dominance against unranked teams seems to be fading as evidenced by the recent losses.
Former Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel remarked that Alabama’s intimidating aura is gone. He expressed how the fear associated with facing Alabama has diminished significantly.
“In the past, you walk in to face an Alabama team, you probably got a little fear,” Manziel mentioned on Nightcap after the game. “This is Bama, the team that’s been a dynasty… Ain’t nobody scared of them boys. Not Vandy. Not Kentucky.”
Alabama’s losses have now included matches against Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and more, revealing that the formidable reputation of the program may not be what it used to be.
As they look to bounce back, Alabama’s upcoming game against ULM is crucial for their College Football Playoff aspirations.
