Joe Thomas has recently shared his thoughts regarding the depth chart position of rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders on the Cleveland Browns. He clarifies that there’s no hidden agenda impacting Sanders’ status, emphasizing the intricacies involved in developing young quarterbacks.
“The reality of the NFL Draft is that you have 32 teams that all want to beat each other, and so they’re not conspiring together to sabotage somebody who, by the way, would be great for the league,” Thomas stated on the show Don’t @ Me with Dan Dakich.
He encourages patience with Sanders, who possesses significant potential but still has important developmental needs to meet before stepping up.
“I think he has a higher ceiling. He’s a great playmaker, he has tremendous accuracy, he has that feel when he is in the game of how to make those big plays,” Thomas added, suggesting that Sanders’ moment will come once he is fully prepared.
Additionally, Thomas criticized those clamoring for Sanders to be the starter immediately, urging them not to overlook the broader perspective surrounding his growth and eventual success.
