Anthony Davis to be sidelined for several weeks due to adductor strain

Anthony Davis has suffered an injury that will keep him away from the court for multiple weeks after his debut with the Mavericks.

Anthony Davis balled out in his first game with the Dallas Mavericks, but it may be some time before Mavericks fans see their new star on the court again.

Davis suffered an adductor strain in the Mavericks’ Saturday win over the Houston Rockets and will now miss “multiple weeks” due to the injury, according to ESPN.

Lakers acquire Luka Dončić from Mavericks in exchange for Anthony Davis

Dallas acquired Davis as the highlight of its blockbuster trade return from the Los Angeles Lakers for superstar Luka Dončić.

Davis achieved 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks in the win over Houston. Before the trade, he was averaging 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game with the Lakers over five-plus seasons, following seven seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans.

The 31-year-old has faced injuries in the past, including knee, foot and calf issues, which have kept him off the court for extended periods recently.

The Mavericks currently hold a record of 28-25 this season, ranking eighth in the Western Conference.
