One minute you’re relaxing on the beach during summer, and the next, you’re marathoning hours of football on the couch. The NFL kicks off this week at Lincoln Financial Field, where the Philadelphia Eagles will reveal their new Super Bowl championship banner against the Dallas Cowboys.

Before diving headfirst into the 2025 NFL season, CBS Sports staff have weighed in on their predictions for the division champions. Here’s what they had to say about their picks:

AFC East

Betting Odds:

• Buffalo Bills -260

• New England Patriots +550

• Miami Dolphins +700

• New York Jets +1600

• Prisco: Bills. This is a runaway. The division is weak, the schedule is soft, and the talent is all over the place.

• Sullivan: Bills. No team is a bigger favorite to win their respective division than the Bills, and rightly so. They are in a Super Bowl window while the rest of the division is in disarray. Josh Allen and Co. should secure an easy victory.

• Dajani: Bills. The Bills are heavily favored for solid reasons and could go unbeaten for a long stretch.

• Edwards: Bills. The Miami defense has noticeable deficiencies. Justin Fields hasn’t proven capable of leading effectively, and while New England has improved, they still have holes. Buffalo isn’t an unconventional pick, but they have the strongest case.

• Dubin: Bills. They win this division every year.

• Benjamin: Bills. Who’s even remotely equipped to challenge Buffalo, barring a significant injury to Josh Allen?

• Podell: Bills. They’re the most stable regular season team of the 2020s.

• Pereles: Bills. The Bills have a five-year winning streak in the division and maintain an impressive 24-6 record against it during this stretch.

• Breech: Bills. The Bills should win it for the sixth consecutive year.
