Ancelotti Shapes Brazil Ahead of Match with Chile, Missing Neymar

Carlo Ancelotti continues to mold the Brazilian national team as they prepare for a match against Chile, navigating expectations without the star player Neymar.

The rigorous journey toward qualifying for the 2026 World Cup is off Brazil’s checklist, yet the renowned five-time champions continue to prepare diligently under the guidance of new head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Ahead of his third match in leadership, it is natural that Ancelotti’s current lineup appears incomplete. The stakes are elevated as Brazil aims to reclaim their World Cup glory after 24 years. At his initial press conference in May, Ancelotti stated, “My Brazil will play like Real Madrid, but not like (this year’s) Real Madrid, rather like last year’s team.”

To date, however, results have yet to mirror the 2023-24 Real Madrid squad, with Ancelotti’s Brazil having managed a goalless draw against Ecuador and a narrowly won game against Paraguay. This upcoming match against Chile presents a prime opportunity for the team to demonstrate their capabilities.

Match Details: Brazil vs. Chile

  • Date: Thursday, Sept. 4

  • Location: Maracana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
  • TV: Universo

Unfortunately, Ancelotti is once again without Neymar, who has been ruled out for the second time due to a reported “minor injury.” However, Neymar contends, “It was some swelling I had in my adductor, some discomfort, but it was nothing serious.” Meanwhile, other prominent players, including Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, are also absent.

As Ancelotti integrates fresh talents with seasoned professionals, notable names on the current squad include Richarlison, who netted two goals recently, alongside the Chelsea duo Joao Pedro and Estevao Willian, each demonstrating impressive performances in their respective leagues.
