Clay Helton Booed During His Return to Los Angeles Coliseum

Former USC coach Clay Helton faced a chorus of boos during his return to the LA Coliseum while coaching Georgia Southern.

Clay Helton made his return to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, facing a loud chorus of boos from fans, reflecting on his controversial tenure with USC. Helton, who is now the head coach at Georgia Southern, expressed his gratitude for his long-time associations at USC, mentioning:

“It’s gonna be special for me. There are 12 years of relationships. I have so much gratitude for having been a Trojan for a decade plus.”

Helton’s successful start at USC began as Lane Kiffin’s quarterbacks coach before he ascended to full-time head coach. His departure came abruptly in 2021 after an underwhelming performance. In the following years, he has led Georgia Southern to improvement, aiming for a brighter future.
