Jimmy Butler's Future: Odds Favor Suns for Next Team
Pat Riley confirms Jimmy Butler will stay with the Heat, but trade rumors resurface as tensions rise with the player.
Recently, Miami Heat team president Pat Riley stated that six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler will remain in Miami for the foreseeable future.
“We are not trading Jimmy Butler,” were Riley’s exact words.
However, it appears things have taken a turn since then.
Butler’s Next Team Odds
DraftKings Sportsbook has posted odds for Butler’s next team after the February 6 trade deadline:
- Suns: +110 (bet $10 to win $21 total)
- Heat: +300 (bet $10 to win $40 total)
- Grizzlies: +550 (bet $10 to win $65 total)
- Pelicans: +750 (bet $10 to win $85 total)
The latest reports indicate that teams have learned Butler would not re-sign with select franchises, pointing towards Phoenix as a likely potential destination.
Riley’s reassurance about Butler not being traded followed recent insights suggesting Butler desires a trade prior to the February 6 deadline, with the Warriors and Suns being his preferred teams.
Amid escalating tensions, Butler was recently asked during a postgame press conference if he could regain his joy for the game in Miami and replied, “Probably not.”
Shortly following this, the Heat suspended Butler for seven games and indicated they would entertain trade offers for the dissatisfied star.
As it stands, the Heat are performing with a record of 3-2 during Butler’s suspension, while he is averaging 17.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.7 assists this season. In his six seasons with the Heat, Butler has led the team to the NBA Finals on two occasions.
