Panthers and Jaguars Game Interrupted by Weather in Second Quarter

A weather delay caused by lightning paused the game between the Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars during the second quarter.

The Week 1 matchup between the Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars was halted due to lightning in the proximity of EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. The game is set to resume at 3:10 p.m. ET, with the Jaguars leading the Panthers 10-3 with 8:32 left in the first half.

At 2:54 p.m. ET, approximately an hour into the delay, the stadium PA announcer updated fans that the weather had cleared and they could return to their seats. The teams re-entered the field for a brief warm-up session.

Jacksonville kicked off the scoring in the first quarter with a 35-yard field goal from Cam Little, while Carolina responded with a 48-yarder from Ryan Fitzgerald. Just before the weather interruption, Trevor Lawrence connected with Hunter Long for his first touchdown of the season from six yards out.

The start of Bryce Young’s third season has been challenging, as he finished the first half only 3-for-6 for 16 yards, throwing one interception during his 2025 debut.

All eyes are on rookie first-round pick Travis Hunter in his NFL debut, leading all wide receivers with four catches in the first half.
