Micah Parsons made a strong impression in his first game with the Green Bay Packers, recording his first sack in a 27-13 victory over the Detroit Lions. However, he expressed frustration with the trade process that placed him in Green Bay so close to the season’s start.
Parsons criticized the timing of his trade, which occurred on August 28, leaving him less than two weeks to prepare. He voiced his dissatisfaction over how the Dallas Cowboys handled the situation, particularly Jerry Jones’s delay in finalizing the trade. “These last six months were super draining, super toxic for everyone,” Parsons stated after his debut. “It’s something that I don’t think any player should have to go through. The fact that I was traded a week before the season was really outrageous and rough.”
Despite his discontent, Parsons was the one who initially requested the trade on August 1, which took four weeks for the Cowboys to finalize. He reflected on the missed opportunity to bond and train with his new teammates ahead of the season opener.
“I’m just happy that it’s behind me,” Parsons shared. “These guys believe in my talents, and I’m going to do everything I can to help us win.”
Upon joining the Packers, Parsons secured a four-year contract worth $188 million, with a substantial portion guaranteed. His first game statistics included one sack, but he was also praised for pressuring Lions quarterback Jared Goff throughout the match.
