🏆 Two Champions League winners, one round of 16 spot
The first-ever edition of the Champions League knockout phase playoffs begins with Manchester City hosting Real Madrid in the first leg of a tie between two European titans.
One of these teams will make an early exit from a competition they’ve both won recently. This season’s injuries have thrown a wrench in their plans, particularly for City’s Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, who’s out with an ACL tear since September. Real Madrid will also miss key players due to injuries.
While expectations for both teams have dropped, the pressure remains high. Expectations are even higher for Real Madrid’s star-studded attack, which includes Kylian Mbappe, who currently leads with 23 goals this season.
