The owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, defended the decision regarding the handling of Micah Parsons’ trade while responding to reports of a better offer from the Philadelphia Eagles. After Parsons made his debut in a game that saw the Green Bay Packers take a 27-13 win over the Detroit Lions, concerns about his trade and player management arose.
Jones stated, “We were all interested in that game and how Micah played,” and noted that he expected no surprises concerning Parsons’ performance, who managed to record a sack despite recovering from an injury:
“Not one thing unexpected for me as to how he played… he was able to get in there and play without having any influence from his back.”
Reports suggest that Philadelphia had made a significant offer consisting of two first-round picks, a third, and a fifth-round pick, which surpassed the Packers’ deal that involved two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Jones labeled the trade process as strategic and emphasized the Cowboys never countered the Eagles’ offer, stating:
“The thought all along was to see where the interest level was.”
Despite a rocky offseason, Parsons appears to have made a strong impression, prompting anticipation for the upcoming match between the Cowboys and the Packers on September 28.
