Udinese played host to the UEFA Super Cup recently, reverting back to historical times which Gokhan Inler aspires to replicate. Inler, now the club’s technical director, expressed a desire to see such prestigious matches more frequently, sharing insights about the need to regenerate the squad and instill a fighting spirit.
“It was a fantastic game, a thrilling spectacle,” Inler recalled, noting the significance of their home turf, Bluenergy Stadium. The match served as a reminder of Udinese’s glory days in European football.
Inler, reflecting on his experiences with the club during its peak years, mentions that while they might not have household names now, the essence of teamwork and mutual respect was paramount in achieving their goals.
“We were just a group of youngsters then, and we achieved remarkable feats through our unity,” he explained.
Discussing the current state of affairs, Inler acknowledged the challenges ahead but remains optimistic.
“Udinese is a worker’s city; every player must give their all,” he entailed, underlining the importance of connecting with the fanbase. They aim to restore Udinese to the heights of Serie A, presenting a resilient and committed front against Italy’s athletic elites.
