Don’t worry, El Salvador supporters! Guns N’ Roses has come through for the men’s national team by moving their concert to allow important World Cup qualifying matches to take place at Estadio Cuscatlán.
El Salvador will be playing two critical qualifiers on October 10 against Panama and October 14 against Guatemala at the largest stadium in the country, thanks to the band rescheduling their concert to Estadio Nacional Jorge “El Mágico” González on October 4.
Officials had warned that hosting a major concert just days before the matches would risk damaging the playing surface.
El Salvador aspires to qualify for its first World Cup since 1982, currently competing in the CONCACAF qualification process. The top team in their regional group will secure a spot in the enlarged 48-team tournament.
Yamil Bukele, President of the Instituto Nacional de los Deportes (INDES), expressed gratitude towards Guns N’ Roses and the event organizers: “We are thankful for the flexibility shown by Guns N’ Roses and the organizing committee, allowing fans of both soccer and music to enjoy remarkable events.”
