The Cincinnati Reds are honoring legendary slugger Pete Rose by wearing a No. 14 patch on their jersey sleeves throughout the upcoming season.
In a post on the team’s X account, the Reds shared a photo of the patch with the caption “14 on our side all season ❤️”

Rose passed away in September 2024 at the age of 83.
Rose spent 19 of his 24 seasons in the majors as a member of the Reds and was instrumental in three World Series-winning teams, including the famed “Big Red Machine” in the 1970s. He also won a championship in 1980 with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Throughout his lengthy career, Rose earned accolades as a 17-time All-Star, National League MVP in 1973, and a notable three-time batting champion. His record of 4,256 hits stands as the highest in MLB history.
However, his legacy is marred by being banned from the Baseball Hall of Fame due to betting on baseball, as the Hall established a permanently ineligible list for banned players in 1991.
