Micah Parsons Trade Talks Revealed by Jerry Jones

Jerry Jones discussed the Cowboys' negotiations regarding Micah Parsons with the Jets prior to his eventual trade to the Packers.

Micah Parsons is currently making an impact for the Green Bay Packers, but there were discussions about him potentially joining the New York Jets instead. Jerry Jones confirmed that the Dallas Cowboys reached out to the Jets to explore trade options involving the prominent edge rusher.

During an interview with 880 ESPN New York, when questioned if the Jets or New York Giants were the first to make contact, Jones disclosed that he initiated discussions with the Jets. He stated:

“There was communication, and I’m not going to go into detail, with one of those teams. As it would turn out, I initiated that with one of those teams. You can guess that it was not the Giants.”

Jerry Jones explained that he called the Jets to inquire about a possible transaction for Micah Parsons, seeking Quinnen Williams and other picks in exchange. The Jets reportedly responded that they didn’t have the necessary resources to engage in the deal. Jones expressed that he was cautious about trading Parsons within the NFC East, as the Eagles had presented a considerable offer.

Although Parsons was eventually sent to the Packers, Jones received the interior defensive lineman he desired, Kenny Clark, along with two first-round picks. Despite Parsons suffering a lower-back injury, he has impressed in his initial games with the Packers, tallying 1.5 sacks and continuing to pressure opposing quarterbacks effectively.
