USWNT's New Squad for SheBelieves Cup Highlights Changes and Missing Players

The U.S. women's national soccer team announces its roster for the SheBelieves Cup, featuring a blend of veterans and newcomers while key players are sidelined.

The U.S. women’s national team will host Australia, Colombia, and Japan in the 10th annual SheBelieves Cup. Head coach Emma Hayes named a 23-player roster to compete in the first matches of the year. The manager recently unveiled her new strategy, The WNT Way, and held a significant January camp with a total of 50 players, though no games took place due to it falling outside the international calendar.

“This team is still growing, and I continue to be impressed with the dedication of our player pool to improve, both individually and as a group,” said Hayes. Translation: “This team is evolving, and I am consistently impressed by the commitment from our players to enhance their skills, both personally and collectively.”

With several players on the mend and unavailable due to personal commitments, many veterans are included in the roster. Notably, forward Catarina Macario (Chelsea FC) is back after a stint away from the national team for injury recovery. However, the ‘Triple Espresso’ attack trio of Trinity Rodman, Mallory Swanson, and Sophia Wilson will miss out.

A total of 23 players will be available for gameday selection, and an additional three players have been called into training camps for practice: Goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce, Savy King, and Hannah Bebar are all uncapped players.
