Milwaukee Brewers Secure Postseason Spot: First Team to Clinch in 2025

The Brewers become the first team to secure a playoff position in the 2025 MLB season, boasting a strong lead in the NL Central.

The Milwaukee Brewers have officially clinched their place in the postseason for the 2025 MLB season, marking them as the first team to secure a playoff berth this year by capitalizing on the New York Mets’ defeat to the Texas Rangers (BOX SCORE).

Currently boasting a record of 90-58, the Brewers hold a commanding six-game advantage over the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central, positioning themselves to capture their third consecutive division title. Despite a rocky start to the season with an 0-4 record and a 25-28 standing by May 24, the Brewers have dramatically turned their season around, compiling a remarkable 65-30 record since.

This well-rounded team is not only one of the best in baseball but also averages the second-highest runs scored per game while giving up the fourth-fewest runs. They need just seven victories in their final 14 games to surpass their franchise record of 96 wins set in 2011 and 2018. However, once they clinch the division, it is likely they will rest key players and evaluate others for postseason tactics, reducing the pressure to chase every victory.

Though the Brewers have been consistently strong in recent seasons, they have yet to win a postseason series since the 2018 NLDS. Given their performance in the regular season, another early exit from the playoffs would be a significant disappointment. Additionally, the NL East leaders, Philadelphia Phillies, are expected to secure their postseason spot shortly.
