Savannah DeMelo's Condition Prompts Resumption of Seattle Reign vs. Racing Louisville Match

The match was temporarily halted after midfielder Savannah DeMelo collapsed during the game, but it will now resume after her condition stabilized.

Racing Louisville’s match against the Seattle Reign is set to continue on Tuesday without spectators, following a medical incident involving midfielder Savannah DeMelo during the halftime break on Sunday.

DeMelo is reported to be stable and conscious after collapsing as the first half concluded, and she is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. The game will resume at 8 p.m. ET at Lumen Field. Fans can watch the resumed match via Paramount+ and NWSL+.

DeMelo expressed her gratitude for the swift response of the medical team, stating, “I’m grateful to have my family with me as I await test results. The medical staff has been outstanding, and the support from everyone is incredibly appreciated. I’m looking forward to cheering on my team this week.”

Caitlyn Flores Milby, general manager for Louisville, also acknowledged the efforts of the medical personnel during the incident.

This isn’t the first incident involving DeMelo this season, having previously experienced dizziness during a match in March, which led to a diagnosis of Graves’ disease and hyperthyroidism, but it’s uncertain if there is a connection to Sunday’s episode.
