After missing most of the season opener due to a foot injury, Luke Goedeke played for the Buccaneers during their Week 2 “Monday Night Football” game against the Texans. However, Goedeke exited the game after a few plays and was diagnosed with a foot injury.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Goedeke has avoided a major injury, but there are concerns he might be out for several weeks. This injury appears to be a recurrence of his earlier foot problem.

It was unclear how Goedeke re-injured his foot, but he indicated to the sideline after encountering Danielle Hunter and subsequently left the game. Charlie Heck replaced him on the offensive line.

The Buccaneers signed Goedeke to a four-year, $90 million extension just before the season commenced. A 2022 second-round pick from Central Michigan, Goedeke’s rookie year was hampered by a foot injury, but he started all 17 games in 2023 after recovering. Despite a concussion last season, his performance has consistently improved.
The Buccaneers ranked second in pass blocking and tenth in run blocking last year, according to PFF. Baker Mayfield faced only a 24.1% pressure rate, which is one of the lowest in the NFL.
Goedeke’s potential absence poses a significant challenge for a Buccaneers team also missing star left tackle Tristan Wirfs due to offseason knee surgery.
