Recently, we ranked every NBA uniform going into the 2025-26 season, and it became evident that many teams are no longer showcasing their best designs. Typically, fans gravitate towards throwback jerseys when asked to choose a favorite, as many modern rebrands lack impact.

The current design trends in the NBA feel like a step backward due to a wave of homogeneity in logos and uniforms, leading to an absence of character. Today’s jerseys often appear simplistic, featuring just one prominent word on a solid background, making it hard for teams to stand out.

The motivation behind this trend is understandable; the league releases new jerseys annually to spur sales. New logos are circular, catering to social media’s preferred dimensions. Nevertheless, this shift in visuals has immense consequences, wherein many fans support particular players more than their respective teams.

In an attempt to rectify this issue, we envision an NBA where each team is allowed to wear only one uniform indefinitely. In situations where the color schemes clash, the only alternative will be the white variant of their primary uniform. Our goal is straightforward: to determine which single jersey a team would wear if they had to choose from their entire history.

We’ll consider the following criteria in our rankings:

• Color scheme: Are the colors cohesive and appropriately chosen?
• Thematic connection: Does the uniform reflect the team’s identity and location?
• Uniqueness: Does it possess distinctive design elements?
• Historical significance: Does the uniform represent a significant moment or achievement in the team’s history?
• Cool factor: Is it stylish and appealing?
