The San Francisco 49ers have started their season strong at 2-0 and could potentially welcome back their starting quarterback, Brock Purdy, for the upcoming home opener. Coach Kyle Shanahan indicated on Wednesday that Purdy “has a chance” to participate against the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday and will begin the week as a limited participant in practice.
Purdy missed the previous game, a 26-21 victory over the New Orleans Saints, due to a turf toe injury that initially had him sidelined for approximately two to five weeks. However, he has shown significant progress in his recovery.
Despite Purdy’s absence, the 49ers’ offense thrived under Mac Jones, who made franchise history by throwing for 275 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions in his starting debut. In the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks, Purdy showcased his ability by completing 26 of 35 passes for 277 yards and scoring two touchdowns.
While the Cardinals also boast a 2-0 record, their performance has seen them fail to hit the 300-yard mark for total offense in any game yet.
