The U-17 U.S. men’s national team achieved an impressive 22-0 victory against the U.S. Virgin Islands on Monday, marking the largest win ever recorded by any U.S. national team in a World Cup qualifying tournament.
The scoring started just two minutes in by Chance Cowell, laying the groundwork for a completely dominating match as they reached 14-0 by halftime. They maintained 78% possession by the end and outshot the U.S. Virgin Islands 53 to zero. Eight players scored throughout the game, with Adams stealing the spotlight by netting ten goals.
Adams scored six of his ten goals in the first half, breaking the record for the most goals scored by a single player for the U-17 USMNT in a World Cup qualifying match, previously held at four.
Thanks to this historic win, the U-17 squad currently leads Group F in the Concacaf U-17 Men’s Qualifiers. The top team from each group will earn a spot in the FIFA U-17 World Cup scheduled for November in Qatar.
