Holders Arsenal will take on record eight-time winners Lyon in the first league phase of the Women’s Champions League. The Gunners triumphed over Barcelona in Lisbon and will return to play against Benfica, in what promises to be a tough six-game series that also includes a match against Real Madrid, whom they defeated in the quarterfinals.

Barcelona, likely the favorites for the competition, will challenge Chelsea and host Bayern Munich. This is a significant moment for the English champions, who were beaten 8-2 on aggregate in last season’s semifinals. Manchester United, which advanced through four qualifying rounds to earn a spot in Pot Three, will play against two French teams with home matches against Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain.

This is the inaugural season in which the Women’s Champions League will follow the league phase structure introduced for the men’s competition in 2024-25. However, it is composed of only 18 teams, where the top four will advance directly to the quarterfinals. Those finishing from fifth to twelfth will enter into a two-legged knockout playoff. The final is scheduled to be held in Oslo, Norway, at Ullevaal Stadion between May 22 and 24. The opening matches will occur on October 7-8, with the complete league phase schedule to be announced by UEFA on Saturday.
