Aaron Judge, star outfielder for the New York Yankees, achieved a remarkable feat by hitting his 50th and 51st home runs in a recent game against the Chicago White Sox, contributing to an 8-1 victory. This performance not only aided his team in tying the Toronto Blue Jays for the top spot in the American League East but also solidified his status as a historical player. Judge now has four 50-homer seasons to his name, equaling legendary figures Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire, and Babe Ruth for the most in MLB history. He is the only player to accomplish this within his first ten years in the league.
Apart from this notable achievement, Judge is the first Yankees player to have consecutive 50-plus homer seasons since Babe Ruth did it in 1927 and 1928. Previously, Judge hit 52 home runs in 2017, 62 in 2022, and 58 last year, setting new records for both the Yankees and the American League. His impressive performance this season has made a substantial impact, contributing an estimated 8.9 Wins Above Replacement to the Yankees, placing him as a top contender for the American League MVP award alongside Seattle Mariners’ Cal Raleigh.
In other news, the Yankees have clinched a postseason berth with their recent win against the White Sox, yet they continue to vie for both the AL East title and the top seed in the playoffs.
