Warriors' Jonathan Kuminga Ends Contract Standoff with New Two-Year Agreement

Jonathan Kuminga finalizes a two-year, $48.5 million deal with the Golden State Warriors, concluding his contract negotiations.

After weeks filled with speculation, the Jonathan Kuminga saga reaches a conclusion as he signs a two-year, $48.5 million contract with the Golden State Warriors. This agreement allows him to avoid the qualifying offer of $7.9 million as reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania. The second year of this contract is a team option.

Previously, the Warriors had proposed a three-year, $75.2 million deal which included a team option for the last year. This new agreement followed a stronger interest from other teams, including the Sacramento Kings, who made significant efforts to secure Kuminga’s services, offering players such as Malik Monk and a first-round draft pick.

Throughout the last season, Kuminga played 47 games, averaging 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. Despite missing 31 games due to an ankle sprain, his most impressive season was the previous one, with averages soaring to 16.1 points and 4.8 rebounds over 74 games.

With his contract situation now resolved, the Warriors can focus on finalizing their roster ahead of the season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 21.
