The Indiana Fever’s remarkable 2025 season concluded last Tuesday with a heartbreaking overtime defeat to the Las Vegas Aces in Game 5 of their semifinal series. Despite this, many from the team stayed in Indianapolis this week, participating first in exit interviews on Thursday and then accepting an honor from the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
Before the Colts secured a 40-6 victory against the Oakland Raiders, they welcomed Caitlin Clark, Natasha Howard, Aari McDonald, and Makayla Timpson onto the field, presenting them with personalized jerseys. Clark, a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan, opted against wearing the jersey designated for her.
Caitlin Clark and the rest of the Indiana Fever were celebrated during the game.
The camaraderie among Indianapolis’ professional sports teams is noteworthy. The Fever and the Indiana Pacers share a strong connection, stemming from shared ownership and mutual successes, notably the friendship between Clark and Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton.
Despite playing in different sports, the relationship extends to the Colts as well. Several Colts players were spotted supporting the Fever throughout their playoff journey, and coach Shane Steichen donned a Fever shirt during a recent press event.
“It’s fantastic for all professional sports to uplift each other throughout their respective seasons, showcasing mutual support and cheering one another on—it’s invaluable,” stated Steichen. While the Fever faced a tough end to the playoffs, they demonstrated resilience by achieving the No. 6 seed in the playoffs, their first playoff win and series triumph since 2015. It would be ideal if the Colts could end their playoff drought this year, especially in light of the Pacers’ finals run for the first time since 2000.
The Colts have not been in the postseason since 2020 and last won a playoff game in 2018, but 2025’s early performances suggest they’re heading in the right direction. With a solid 4-1 start to the season, they currently lead the AFC South.
