The Tennessee Titans faced off against the Arizona Cardinals in a highly unexpected game during Week 5, turning the tide from a 21-3 deficit to a thrilling 22-21 victory, propelled by some crucial mistakes from the Cardinals.
In a pivotal moment in the fourth quarter, Cardinals running back Emari Demercado remarkably dropped the ball before scoring a wide-open touchdown. This lapse allowed the Titans’ offense to rally back, marching 80 yards for their first touchdown in two weeks. Later, while trailing by nine points, the Titans capitalized on a Cardinals interception, turning it into a stunning touchdown.
After Arizona failed to convert on a three-and-out, rookie quarterback Cam Ward led his team to the Cardinals’ 20-yard line but had a pass intercepted by safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson. However, he fumbled the ball, and it subsequently rolled into the Cardinals’ end zone, where Tyler Lockett recovered it to score.

This score closed the gap to just two points after the Cardinals had led by as much as 18. With under five minutes left, the Cardinals opted for a conservative approach on offense, with Kyler Murray’s unit managing just 15 yards on six plays before punting the ball back to the Titans.
This gave Ward, the first overall pick from the 2025 NFL Draft, the opportunity to cover 71 yards in 11 plays, setting up a game-winning 29-yard field goal by Joey Slye. This victory marked Tennessee’s first win since November 24, 2024.
The Cardinals’ collapse was a dramatic turn of events, but the Titans showcased their resilience throughout the game.
