Brazil Dominates South Korea with Estevao and Rodrygo Each Scoring Twice

Brazil's strong performance leads to a 5-0 victory over South Korea during an international friendly.

Two goals each from Estevao and Rodrygo propelled Brazil to a decisive 5-0 victory over South Korea in Seoul, serving as an early preparation for the upcoming World Cup.

Brazil, having previously triumphed 4-1 against South Korea in the 2022 World Cup, again demonstrated their dominance at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, where 66,000 spectators witnessed the match in rainy conditions. This win marked Brazil’s third in twelve away fixtures.

The scoring opened in the 11th minute when Bruno Guimaraes pierced the Korean defense, allowing Estevao to net a close-range goal. Shortly after, Casemiro’s goal was annulled for offside, while Rodrygo’s shot was thwarted by goalkeeper Jo Hyeon-woo.

Brazil extended their advantage just before halftime; Casemiro assisted Rodrygo, who scored with a curled shot into the corner, making it 2-0.

The second half saw Estevao capitalize on a mistake from Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-jae, scoring his second goal. Rodrygo soon followed with another goal, bringing the score to 4-0.

Vinicius Junior capped off the scoring in the 77th minute, showcasing a formidable performance from the five-time world champions.

“Satisfaction comes from the collective team play; by building a strong base with solid defense, the individual quality in attack will shine through,” stated Brazil’s coach Carlo Ancelotti. “Today was a successful demonstration, as both Rodrygo and Estevao excelled.”

In contrast, South Korea faced a challenging match, struggling to pose a threat to Brazil’s defense. “By taking on such a strong team, we have learned a lot in preparation for the World Cup,” remarked South Korea’s coach Hong Myung-bo. “I apologize for not delivering better results for our fans amid dreadful weather and we will work on overcoming our shortcomings.”

On Tuesday, Brazil is scheduled to challenge Japan, who earlier drew 2-2 with Paraguay.
